The Strasbourg Maroons took Balcares to the limit, but the Broncs prevailed with a 4 - 1 victory and become the first team to advance in this years provincial tournament. Balcares, playing in the A division, hammered the Maroons in game one, 11 - 4 only to drop game two by a 7 - 4 count. Balcares awaits the winner of the Davidson/Raymore series, and that one could end as early as tonight as the Cyclones host the Rockets looking to close out the series on home ice.
In other action this weekend the Hague Royals look to complete the upset of the Kindersley Red Lions as they play Friday night in Hague. On Saturday, the Bruno T-Birds will try and stave off elimination as they host Wynyard, while Waldheim will try to eliminate the Meadow Lake Stampeders. In the B division, the Carduff Red Devils travel to Langenburg to take on the Warriors while in the D division the Allan Flames get set to host the Beechy Bombers.
Looking ahead to Sunday, the only guaranteed game is in the C division as Redvers makes the journey to Bredenbury to open their series. Should Kindersley and Meadow Lake force deciding games those will be played Sunday night.
Finally, on Monday, the Raymore Rockets will host Davidson if they survive Friday's action, while Wynyard and Bruno would play a deciding game if Bruno can win on Saturday.
