The last two spots in the SHA provincial playoffs will be determined tonight, and both games will be played in LLHL barns. In Lanigan, the Pirates look to build on a huge 6 - 1 win over the Shellbrook Elks Saturday night. Game two was close through 40 minutes, however the Pirates were finally able to solve the riddle that was Brenden Cuthbert, as they put three past him in the final period. The winner of this game will advance to the northern finals where they will meet the Hague Royals who trounced the Dalmeny Fury Sunday afternoon, 8 - 4.
In the only other game, the Watrous Centennial Arena will be the site of game two in the two game series between the Winterhawks and the Rosetown Redwings. Game one was a back and forth affair, at least on the score board, as Watrous kept the game and series close. After one period Rosetown held a 2 - 1 lead before surrendering 4 goals in the second, going down 5 - 4 after forty. Watrous goalie, Evan Reiferscheid was not able to close the door in the third, however, and the Wings potted two in the final twenty, and Rosetown held on for a 6 - 5 win. Asked prior to the series if Watrous would take a one goal deficit coming home against the powerhouse from the SVHL, they would likely say yes to that deal. Should Watrous come back, or Rosetown hold on, either team will be in tough against the high flying Drake Canucks as they are waiting in the wings in the Northern final.
